On Saturday 20th May, the Club will be offering something a little different. Members and guests are invited to join us for an evening of Turkish meze, with some outstanding wines from Lebanon (optional). We have picked out some real stunners for Members’ enjoyment!
Members and guests will assemble at 6.00pm for an arrival drink of their choosing, and service will begin at 6.30pm.
As ever, Members are welcome to make their own wine selection (or pass on wine altogether), but for this event we are excited to have procured a limited supply of fine wines from Lebanon, one of the great unsung wine producing regions of the world.
Members are asked to pre-order Lebanese wine from the below list to ensure we have sufficient stock on the night.
White
Château Marsyas Blanc, 2016 - £36.00
A creamy, zesty, aromatic chardonnay / sauvignon blend from the foot of Mount Barouk. Notes of satsuma, orange blossom, and peach.
Château Musar Blanc, 2014 - £48.00
What a treat – a blend of Obaideh and Merwah grapes from high altitude vineyards create a full-bodied and savoury white with notes of beeswax, hazelnuts, banana, honey, herbs, and a little salt.
Red
Château Marsyas Rouge, 2016 - £38.00
A huge and expressive CabSav / Syrah / CabFranc / Petit Verdot blend, the Marsyas rouge overflows with cherry, chocolate, run and raisin, black pepper, and supple tannins.
Château Musar, 2016 - £52.00
Deep ruby and viscous, the 2016 Musar is spicy and full of dark fruits, with a hint of dark chocolate. Velvety soft tannins give the wine immense depth and a long finish.
Château Musar, 1997 - £94.00
A superb year for Musar, the 1997 is beautifully structured, smoky on the nose, with lashings of Christmas spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, and pomegranate. It has excellent ageing potential, and we envy the lucky Member who gets to uncork this seriously special bottle.
