French Cheese and Wine

I am delighted to announce a new and very exciting special offer at the Club for the summer months. As a special treat, the Club invites Members and guests to sample some fantastic cheeses and wines in the comfort of the Club’s Bar, Smoke Room, or Patio. On select dates, as listed above, French and Italian cheese plates will be offered for parties of two or more, with specially selected wines offered as refreshment (Members may choose their own wine).

Details of the offering are below. These plates will be offered from 2.00pm until 9.00pm on the given Saturday. We ask Members to notify us is advance if they will partake so that adequate stocks of these expensive cheeses can be maintained without wastage.

The Club will offer suggested wines from amongst the best in our cellar. Members are, of course, permitted to select their own wine, or not at all. These are only suggestions.

A stunning and wholly satisfying assortment of some of the best French cheeses available to the British market. From the Jura mountains, a Comté matured for two years at the old Saint Antoine fort – rich, sweet, and crystalline. From Champagne, an aromatic, melty Langres with an undulating washed rind. From Roquefort, a peerless blue from the only Roquefort house to produce its own penicillium roqueforti from bread baked inhouse. From celebrated affineur Rudolphe le Meunier, a fudgy, salty smoked goat’s rouleau.  And from affineur Francois David, an exceptionally rare farmhouse Banon made using only traditional and labour-intensive methods.
